ChildSafe's New Children's Advocacy Center
Facility Programming and Consulting was engaged by ChildSafe, Bexar County’s only Children’s Advocacy Center, to prepare an architectural program of requirements for a new facility. Over the past 20 years, the center has seen the number of services it provides, the number of staff it employs, and the number of children and families reaching out for assistance continue to grow. As the center strives to continue to assist all children, a larger, more centrally located facility with easy pedestrian and vehicular access has become a need. The new facility is proposed to house all ChildSafe Employees and Programs, as well as provide shared spaces for all groups such as meeting spaces, a large breakroom, an exercise room, and outdoor areas. The planned facility will be completed as a single project, however, site planning shall take into account the possibility of future expansions or additional structures on the property to meet evolving needs over the next decade. The information gathering process included individual department/user group interviews, existing facility tours, peer program facility tours, and stakeholder workshops, allowing the team to provide a facility program that will best fit the organization’s needs.
